Just as it is with the Grand Slam in tennis, so it is with the Grand Tour of Switzerland. Something that is undoubtedly exceptional.

At more than 1,600kms in length, this unique route encompasses all of Switzerland’s most enthralling highlights and incredible beauty – deep blue lakes, majestic mountains, vibrant cities and picturesque villages. Often called the Playground of Europe, Switzerland offers an abundance of inviting ski slopes and luxury Alpine resorts. Tourism is an important sector of the Swiss economy accounting for 2.8% of the country’s gross domestic product. With Covid, obviously, all that changed, but now, a new ad is aimed at wooing the tourists back.

Tennis star Roger Federer and Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway have teamed up to feature in a hilarious ad campaign that aims to attract tourists back to Switzerland. Join them on this remarkable road trip; you won’t be able to help laughing as they squabble over who — or what — gets star billing. While the ad is an attempt to popularize Switzerland as a country, Federer and Hathaway impressed their audience with some fabulous on-screen chemistry.

And don’t miss lines like: “The Grand Tour, even more majestic than Roger Federer’s abs!”

We kid you not. It is worth it for the sumptuous scenery as much as for the two of them.

Switzerland is the perfect place for touring. And Federer loves the fact it’s so easy to get around and still has many places on his bucket list that he would like to visit. The 9-day road trip that the stars are promoting starts and ends in Zurich, showcasing some of the country’s most fascinating and scenic attractions. The Grand Tour takes visitors to 46 top attractions, 22 lakes, 5 Alpine passes, and 13 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The Swiss tennis legend will turn 41 in August this year and has been in rehabilitation, coping with injury issues. He shared a post recently stating that the “Rehab is rockinggggggg.” Let’s hope it is enough to get him to Wimbledon this year. The 20-time Grand Slam winner is the Brand Ambassador for Swiss Tourism. As for Anne Hathaway, the actress had visited Switzerland several times and revealed herself to be a big fan not only of the country but also of Federer (who isn’t?! He has a following of nearly 13 million on Twitter).

As of its release on 12 April, the video has had over 4.1 million views on YouTube.

I’ve enjoyed a few road trips in my time, but I still dream of getting behind the wheel of a classic car with friends or family and heading off on a five-day touring adventure.

I have many fond memories of my road trips. When I was younger, we used to drive to my tennis tournaments at the weekends. And we’d listen to the hits from the good old 80s and 90s.
