If you’ve always fancied yourself as something of a writer, then the Queen may have just the job for you.

Her Majesty is looking for a new member of staff to help respond to the thousands of fans who send letters to Buckingham Palace every year and she is offering a £23,500 salary to work Monday to Friday.

The monarch may be 95, but she likes to keep up with social media and has even been known to tweet, so little surprise that the prestigious job was advertised on LinkedIn.

Successful candidates will need to be able to “draft a letter that someone never forgets” and will need both administrative experience and excellent communication skills.

But of course, if you are going to be working by royal appointment, you will also need to be able to pay attention to detail and be well organised in your daily work schedule, have IT skills and be able to meet strict deadlines.

The advert states that: “Above all, you will enjoy working collaboratively with your team, and be eager to expand upon your experience in a truly unique environment.”

The Palace adds: “Working as part of the Correspondence Unit, your challenge will be to ensure that each and everyone receives a timely and well-composed response.

“Every day you will respond to letters sent by the public in answer to various and often unique queries as well as general messages of good wishes.

“Recording and monitoring all correspondence, you’ll be proud of the number of letters you respond to, which will drive you to deliver consistently high standards.

“In this way, you will help to support the important work of The Royal Household.”

And of course, if working for the Royals isn’t enough, there’s a benefits package which includes 33 days holiday, an employer contribution pension scheme and training and development opportunities.

So brush up on your etiquette and get those CVs ready.
