Just A Coincidence?

While the scientific community has yet to measure coincidence or synchronicity, there are some events that are so startling that you can only conclude that something deeper is at play.

For instance, you dream about the old boss you haven’t seen for years, and the next day you bump into her in the street. You move cities, and your new neighbour is an old childhood flame. Is the universe trying to show you something and is there more at play than can be accounted for by chance?

Some like Deepak Chopra feel that there are no coincidences and that everything holds a meaning. Others see coincidences as little miracles that point to a bigger one.

Synchronicity, also known as meaningful coincidence, is a series of signs or events too amazing to be just a mere coincidence. We all love mysterious things and synchronicity is like a little bit of wizardry. If we think about something, and it then appears, how can we not be astonished?

Synchronicity gives you the sense that there is something bigger than yourself out there and it also teaches you to pay attention to what is going on in your life. If we trust that synchronicity will work out for us, even when things are going badly, we can live a life that is more relaxed, with a lot less stress.

Because we spend some much time determining our own path and setting our own goals, we often whizz past opportunities offered by coincidences and miss the chance to lead more satisfying lives.

Here’s how can you attract more synchronicity into your life and start using it as a helpful guide to a more fulfilled life.

Be relaxed and open-minded: Meditation, yoga and martial arts all encourage the mind and the body to react intuitively. These arts teach you how to focus on what you feel rather than what you think, and when you feel, you will recognise synchronicities when they happen. If you are calm and happy, more meaningful coincidences will happen in your life.

Become aware: Pay attention to what is happening in your life right now. Learn to slow down and appreciate the moments, be mindful so that you don’t miss those little coincidences. Try to be open and aware.

Go with the flow:  Move with, rather than against the current of your life. It will give you the feeling that you in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. You will feel connected to something greater than yourself.

Believe in the possibility: Open up to the notion that anything and everything is possible. Try to become more flexible in your thinking. Expand your mind, accept whatever appears and you are more likely to experience meaningful coincidences.

Start to feel: Synchronicities often appear when you are in a state of heightened emotion, so pay attention to what you are feeling, even when the emotions are negative. Just stay with them, get curious and wait for meaningful coincidences to flow.
