One of Asia’s most important art fairs, Hong Kong’s Art Basel, is back in business at the backend of May, inviting over 100 galleries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
With art institutions across the globe being shut down as a result of the pandemic, a record number of people have gone to the internet for their art needs. But now that travel is slowly coming back, Hong Kong has emerged as a major driver for the restarting of events – starting with the ‘Arts in Hong Kong’ campaign that the Hong Kong Tourism Board initiated in the hopes of reintroducing major events.
One of those is the world-renowned Art Basel fair from 21 to 23 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Here, art lovers will experience some of the most creative works from across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Naturally, health and safety protocols will be put in place to keep all visitors at the event safe.
While Art Basel is live, so too will be many other events including the annual French May (1 May to 30 June) as well as Art Central, which, for the first time, will be free to attend.
For art fanatics that are unable to attend, ‘Art Basel Live: Hong Kong’ has been launched for those who are overseas to join. On the HKTB campaign website, people can even interact with the event.
The website will inform of the latest online showcases, art itineraries, offers and insider sneak-peeks.
