Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have released “Breathe Into It” – an 11 part series available exclusively on the meditation app Calm.
The Grammy nominated singer/songwriters are championing mental wellness to youth around the world. The first year of this multi-year partnership includes exclusive audio content from Cabello & Mendes, an introduction of a free mental wellness resource hub, and Calm donations to activists, organizers, and youth in need of support.
Over the 11 ‘Breathe Into It’ sessions, Shawn and Camilla will take listeners behind the scenes of their own mental wellness journeys, and share their wellness journey and experiences with overcoming fear, anxiety and building self-love.
To accompany the audio series, Calm is also releasing its first ever Mental Wellness Hub. Inspired by Gen Z, the mobile-first hub is an interactive page that gives users instant access to resources while interacting with their community. The tools also give users an inside look at Shawn and Camila’s favourite resources, both within and outside of the Calm ecosystem. Check it out HERE.
“Everyone’s journey with mental health is different but no matter your struggle, know that you are not alone,” said Cabello. “Meditation and mindfulness have been so helpful as I navigate life and prioritize healing. By sharing my own journey, my hope is that we can continue to destigmatize conversations about mental health and asking for support. Expanding access to these types of resources is so important, especially for communities who often aren’t given the time or space to focus on their mental wellness.”
Mendes will be directing thousands of free Calm memberships to youth activists and leaders involved in programs of The Shawn Mendes Foundation. These programs include the Foundation’s 2021 signature initiative Wonder Grants, a program that uplifts youth activists and youth organizations through network building, financial, and logistical support. Past grantees include Garvita Gulhati, 22, who founded Why Waste? and launched a national water conservation campaign in India, and Diana Chao, 20, who founded Los Angeles based Letters 2 Strangers, an organization working to destigmatize mental illness and increase access to affordable, quality treatment. The memberships will also be given to students in the Global Citizen Academy, launched last year in partnership with nonprofit Global Citizen Year.
