Memphis has been rolling out a number of virtual performances in order to spread some Christmas joy to those around the world.
Although we won’t be able to experience this for ourselves this year, we can enjoy the curated performances from local musicians in some of the city’s favourite spots.
Those at home can watch on as Grammy-nominated blues and soul band Southern Avenue, sing Christmas favourite Deck the Halls whilst taking us on a virtual tour of the Memphis Zoo Lights, the Enchanted Forest at the Museum of Science and History Pink Palace, as well as the Winter Wonderland found at The Children’s Museum of Memphis.
In addition to this, is a soulful performance by local musical group the Sensational Barnes Brothers to get you tapping along. Enjoy the truly amazing sounds of The Sensational Brothers as they take you a journey through Starry Nights at Shelby Farms Park, whilst singing Christmas favourite Up On The Rooftop, which you can watch below
To continue on with the festive spirit, the Ballet Memphis is sharing a holiday classic and allowing those at home to stream The Nutcracker: A Gift From Ballet Memphis. So take the opportunity to watch this cinematic performance on offer by local dancers.
You can also listen to another fabulous Christmas classic, Auld Lang Syne, performed by singer Evvie McKenny (seen above in the hero shot) and American Jazz saxophonist, Kirk Whalum. This will be shown soon on our Happy Ali instagram page.
It’s certainly wonderful to see how the city of Memphis is banding together to spread love and much needed Christmas cheer. We’d love you to share stories of how your city is banding together, too.
